Gaps in health coverage can interfere with prevention

Interruptions in insurance can be enough to prevent people from getting preventive care.

People without health insurance do not get enough deterrence-simple yet important things like vaccinations and blood testing.

But surely have insurance every now and then it is better than nothing, because people can get caught up in their tests as they protected, right?

It is the view of the many, and one that will be good news for millions of people who go on and off health insurance each year. Some of them lost or changing jobs. Another slide on and off Medicaid as they took a temporary job, get married or divorced.

But it is not the reality, according to a recent study of people with diabetes. For them, the preventive care that can mean the difference between a normal life and a serious health problem such as heart attack and stroke, amputation. But that’s not the case.
