But this point Aaron Carroll shows today. Conservatives have great faith in the competition to promote health, by raising the quality and driving down costs. And while liberals like myself think conservatives believe too much in the competition, I think most of us agree that competition has at least some value.

The problem is that the competition could not exist without the correct rules. Insurers will use freedom to avoid enrolling sick people and to make any decision coverage would increase their profits. The federal Government has rejected a request by the State to reduce the amount of the premium that the insurer should be devoted to health care.
